Anyone out there trying to conceive through IVF or other ART (assisted reproductive technology procedures) and feeling discouraged because of the negative publicity the Octo-mom situation has caused? It's a shame, because IVF gives many women the chance to have a baby who otherwise aren't able to conceive. I got pregnant with my third child through IVF after four years of secondary infertility, and without it, he wouldn't be here today. It's a shame people who abuse the process put a bad name to an otherwise life-changing procedure. If you'd like to view an article I published on Modern Mom Media on this topic, do a google search on "IVF is NOT the Enemy" and it's the first one on the list. If you have any questions on recurrent miscarriage (I had 5), genetic problems in the fetus (I had a Trisomy 13 pregnancy loss), IUI (intrauterine insemination), IVF with PGD (preimplantation genetic diagnosis, where they biopsy the embryos to check for major chromosomal problems before transfer), or IVF with ICSI (which is used for male factor infertility - where they find the best looking sperm under the microscope and directly inject it into the egg), then I'd be happy to answer any questions (I've experienced all of the above).
