Another great idea............boudoir photos! MSNBC just posted an article about how they are the best Valentine to give to your guy! A trusted photographer, like Val, can tranform her studio and women can drink champagne, dance around to Britney Spears and have tastefully sexy portraits taken of themselves — just in time for Valentine’s Day. This is awesome for the guys, and a confidence-booster for us women!!

Jessamyn, I don't think roses ever go out of style. I can't think of a woman out there who doesn't love getting flowers. What's old is a dozen roses sorrounded by ugly ferns, still wrapped in the plastic from Costco! Taking a little time to put them in a beautiful vase, add some gorgeous greenery, and writing out a heart-felt, handwritten love note earns a gazillion brownie points! I also suggest saying WHY you love someone; it's not enough to simply say "I Love You" when you have an opportunity to express just how appreciative you are and why you're still in love. As for the chocolates........well, I say skip it, or simply apply directly to the hips. Flowers say 'romance', chocolates say 'unwanted calories'.
While chocolate and flowers are nice on Valentine's Day, what most women really desire is romance and passion. Or someone to clean the house and take care of the kids for a day!
A Modern Mom who only has 20-30 minutes to mark the occasion should make it a special treat. What does your partner love the most? A scalp or hand massage? A certain type of music that you could create a new playlist of on their MP3 player? Or something more playful, like performing a sensual strip tease? (The right props, costumes, music and attitude can help!)
If you're fortunate to have the evening to yourselves, let the babysitter mind the kids...in another part of the house........while you cook up a tasty, aphrodisiac-enhancing dinner. No man can resist a wonderful, home-cooked meal. Keep the evening hot and spicy by serving up something sweet....YOU! Set the mood with candles and music, wear a confidence-boosting outfit, and try something new. Hot hint- Removing one or more of the senses increases anticipation and excitment. Experiement with sensory foreplay by blindfolding one another. (Especially good if you've just received, and eaten, that box of chocolates and are feeling a bit bloated!!)
The lucky, lucky Modern Mom who has a whole weekend to play can take romance on the road. A simple change of environment inspires playfulness and passion. Experiment with sensual games or try some new massage techniques. Water is always very sensual, and a large whirlpool tub can also inspire hours of fun. Try something new; it's amazing how variety can rekindle that passion.
Best advice- treat Valentine's Day like New Years and make a resolution that every day can and should be a day for romance. Show your partner your appreciation daily. That's always sexy, and always in style!
