Connecting Modern Women and Moms

I am sure you heard by now that a Los Angeles woman gave birth to eight babies. If you thought that this was a bit excessive, check this out. She already has 6 kids. It seems that she has been receiving fertility treatment and that she had embryos implanted last year. According to CNN's Website "...in certain European countries, particularly Italy and Germany, the limit on the number of embryos allowed to be implanted at once is three."

I love kids. I would never tell a woman what she can do with her body, but if we were pregnant I would want us to avoid abortion. But it seems to me like this woman has psychological issues for wanting to have 14 kids. Furthermore, how can a fertility clinic participate in the treatment of a woman with 6 existing children? I wish healthy and happy lives to these children. Their parents on the other end need some psychological health.

I think it is incredibly sad that these children will have to grow up with what is clearly an unstable woman. God only knows what she will find acceptable behavior next.

OK... this is a bit unrelated to the ethical questions raised. But looking at the diagram above and with my engineering background I couldn't help it:
If the average weight of each baby was 2 lbs, then she was carrying 16lb of baby inside. Up that to 2.5lbs, total baby weight was 20lbs!!! Can you imagine a 20lb baby?!?! That's a lot of stress on any one person's body!!!

I am not one to judge. Oh who am I kidding. My nickame among my loved ones is, Mental, Judge Mental. Get it?

No seriously, who in their right mind would do this to the children? I will tell you a secret. While I was at my OB/GYN during my first pregnancy, I over heard a phone conversation between my doctor and her boss about a phone call she had to take in the middle of my exam. She told her boss that she felt ethically challenged and that she would not perform the abortion the patient asked for. Listen to this. The family had 3 girls. They did some fertility treatments and got pregnant with triplets. They were far enough to know the genders. The 1 baby was a girl and the other 2 boys. The woman was asking the doc to abort the girl!!!! Isn't that the saddest story? My doc didn't do it and let her go as a patient as I heard from someone who knew her.

Yuck....
