I don’t know about you but I despise deodorant stains and with the hot summer months on us, I can't go without. I wear a lot of sleeveless tops and dresses during the summer. At some point it’s hard to hide those armpit stains.
Even with the clear or sheer deodorants, after you perspire, I find that your sweat blends with the chemicals still leaving a stain and overtime it worsens. Below are some washing instructions which I find works for most of my silks, cottons, linens, polyesters, and nylons.
I soak these garments between 15 to 30 minutes in cool water with 1 tbs of clear ammonia and ½ tsp of organic clothes detergent. I prefer products like Simple Green and Shakalee. If you are asking why ammonia, it lifts the stains from the garments without damaging the fibers. Rinse the garment and then allow it to soak once more for about an hour in warm water with 1 tbs of white vinegar. Rinse once more and then let it hang or flat dry. If you have limited space it your home such as myself, lay it on the back of my dining room chair or put it on a hanger and let it dry in the bathroom. I know this seems tedious, but if you have invested pieces such as myself, you want to go the extra mile to care for them so they can potentially outlast you.
This is where I buy my detergent and household cleaning supplies. It can last for several months if you use it correctly and you have to create a membership to purchase the product.
