Updates from Founder of I AM Modern Magazine

Dear I AM Modern Readers,

I want to update you on a few changes and improvements. First, I would like to thank you for your continued support and for giving us the challenge of our lives trying to keep our racks stocked up. Boy, you liked this issue! Thank you.

There are some changes headed our way. Here are a few:

1. Our magazine will no longer only serve our mom readership. We want to include all moms and women. We understand that being a mom is very special and we will always serve our core readers in content. The only major change you will start seeing is featured women that are not always moms. We are delighted and can't wait to share our first non mom feature in the upcoming Fall issue.

2. The big news: we will now feature one MALE reader in each issue. Nominate your favorite guy today. Hunks, dads, athletes, teachers.... you nominate them, we will feature them.

3. Mom's Night Off. I strongly believe women should get out of their own surroundings and come out to play with their girlfriends. It is essential for a happy and healthy life to socialize and make friends. Our monthly meetings got us started as a magazine and a community. I love seeing everyone and connecting with you all. However, I know many of you shy away. I know it is hard to get a sitter and leave your duties on a week night so, I want to give us a better reason to exist as a social club. After I spoke to a friend that told me about this idea of anonymous giving, I knew we found our reason to exist as a social club.

Going forward our Mom's Night Off cocktails will be named MAG Parties. MAG stands for Modern Anonymous Giving.

Going forward here is the plan: we pick a venue and a date once a month to meet at a locale. All attending readers will be asked to bring $25 with them. This is not a door charge or a fee for your drinks. You still pay for your own food and drinks. Occasionally the magazine will supply appetizers and drinks. Each meeting, we will designate 3 people to speak on behalf of someone in need in our communities. A family who lost their job, a sick child, a suffering business or non-profit, etc. We will party as usual, drink, socialize and connect. At the end of the night, we will have our designated members speak about the person in need and we will all vote on who should get the total money we brought with us. We will collect the money and anonymously donate it to the person in need the very next day.

RULES for MAG Parties:
Bring $25 with you (more if you can)
Swear to secrecy about the donation made (we will always remain anonymous)
Bring a friend with you next time.
Have fun!

To be an ambassador to plan these local events, please email me directly and the area you would like to coordinate: hulya@iammodern.com. We need readers in Loudoun, Fairfax, Arlington, Falls Church, and MD.

Please help us celebrate as we near our 3 year anniversary. We believe in our readers and our advertisers as well. Remember, without the ads in our magazine, we would not be here. So help us give a shout out to our supporters and tell the advertisers where you saw their ads so that they too can feel great about us.

Sincerely,
Hulya Aksu

To clarify, a MAG Party is:

A MAG Party is a philanthropic social gathering where members come together to socialize and donate funds to a person in the community that is in need of assistance. 3 people will be selected to find someone in the community that they would like to represent. Each person will be heard and all member will vote on the person that will be the recipient of the fund, anonymously, of course. The next day, a person from the party will secretly make sure the funds get to the door of the person in need.
