Who am I?

When I was first given this space to create my own page it was due to my work as Dr. Gharagozloo's Practice Administrator  and my contributions on her behalf, wearing my "dental hat" so to speak.  But, in the process of updating my page, I kept stopping, because, "what I do" isn't ALL of "who I am."  I felt like I should only post things pertaining to my main job, but as the weeks have gone by, I realized, what makes us all "modern women" is the many hats we wear--the reason why I love this magazine, is because in learning about what someone "does" I also learn what else they are juggling in life that makes them happy, succesful and special.

So, while I will obviously use this forum to share the goings on in my business life, I will also share my other passions:  my children, my home based business, my favorite things, my not so favorite things and whatever else life sends my way.

My thought today, is as the granddaughter, daughter, niece, sister and aunt of men whom have served in our military.  Luckily, these men and women did not die in service but many of their dear friends did not come back with them.  My 21 year old nephew just completed a 4 month tour in Afghanistan.  Thankfully he is home safe and sound.

Memorial Day is traditionally May 30, but we make a 3 day weekend out of it and mark it by welcoming Summer.  Pool openings, cook outs, "happy events" become our focus.  Many are not sure what Memorial Day is and what to do to commemorate it.  In putting together my FB and Twitter posts, I found this site:  http://www.usmemorialday.org/  I thought it had a lot of important history and great ideas that are easy to incorporate into our busy lives.

I for one, will share with my older children and take the day on Monday to leave flowers on flower-less tombs at Arlington.  I thought that was a great idea!  Plus we are lucky to live by such a beautiful albeit somber landmark  Most importantly, we will give thanks to those who served past and present and especially for our nephew/cousin, that came home ready to embark on a new adventure.
